- Many years ago my townland, Oughan, was divided into four parts, Ougham, Ballybog Portach Ard and Rinneneach
Ballybog meant the soft townland because it was the swampiest part.
Portach Ard or the high bog was so called because there was a big high bog in part of it.
Churchbog
This got it's name from the Kilturra graveyard which is about a hundred yards away. This belonged to the Grey Friars at one time. St Patrick is said to have slept a night either in this bog or between the church(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
