  1. Doocastle got its name from the two dúmas, dúma mór and dúma beag.
    In this townland there are many fields which have queer names:-
    The Clover field is situated on the land of Thomas Niland, it is so called because each year he has clover growing on it.
    Lios an Uisce.
    This is the name of a fort which is situated on the lands of Michael Niland of Doomore. On one side of it is a large stone with a hole in it.
