    The old people used say that a person should not be out after twelve o'clock alone- except on urgent business.
    If you are out at night and meet a strange black dog look out for yourself. He won't cross water if he is bad. A ghost will not cross water either.
    If you have a dog with you and meet a ghost he will help you- a bitch won't
    A horse will shy if he meets a ghost.
