  1. The cows, horse, donkey, sheep, goat, pigs, calves are our farm animals. The people often call cows by their colours e.g. Strawberry, The maol. When driving the cattle out of the field the people say How! How! Cows are kept in barns. They are tied to stakes with chains or strampeens around their necks. The strampeens are made from straw. There is a horse shoe always behind the barn door for luck.
    There are Customs connected with milking and about milk cows. When milking cows the sign of the cross is always made on the udder of the cow with a little drop of the milk. A penny is sometimes put in the milking can before milking. After a cow calves people put a coal under her and make the sign of the cross with the coal on her back. When a horse is let out a headstall is put on
