I was brought up in Boston In a street you all know well...

I was brought up in Boston
In a street you all know well
    Brought up by honest parents
The truth to you I'll tell
    Brought up by honest parents
    And reared most tenderly
Till I became a rambling man
At the age of twenty three.
    My character it was taken
And I was sent to jail
My friends found out all in vain
To get me out on bail.
    The jury found me guilty
And the clerk he wrote it down
The judge he past my sentence
    I was send from Charlestown
The sent me on board an eastern train
    On a cold December day
And at every station I stood by
I could hear the ladies say
    Here goes the Carthoon burglar
In strong chains he'll be bound
    For one crime or another
    He is off from Charlestown
