You people of Ireland I hope you'll draw near
It's all of the great war that took place this year
Between John Bull Kruger whose cannons do roar
And thousands of soldiers are knocked by the Boer
The Boers they are coming how daring how dear
Such roaring of cannon you never did hear
Since the days of Napoleon I'll tell you quite plain
There was never such slaughter by land or by main
If you were in Queenstown and stood on the quay
Some fine handsome fellows you'd see going away
Those handsome young fellows are leaving their home
And every poor mother she misses her bun
Farewell to Old Ireland we're now going away
To fight those brave farmers in South Afrikay
To fight those brave farmers we are not inclined
Got be with you old Ireland men leaving behind
