    has a son also a shoemakers. The Owens family of oldtown are also descended from shoemakers. There were ten times as many shoemakers here long ago. The shoemakers change around from place to place especially what are know as journey men. These men travel in search of work.
    Clongs were made in olden times and are worn up to the present day. There is a clog factory in our district. It is in the townland of Gowel. Leather was never made in out district at least my grandmother cannot remember any being made at any time.
