    In olden times, hucksters and dealers went around to the neighbouring houses gathering rags and feathers. It is carried on to the present day. They gave from two-pence and six-pence for a stone a rags and the same for a stone of feathers. There are not of use only the four-penny bit or a groat was the four-shilling piece.
