  1. There is a fort about two hundred yards outside Kilkelly. There are three rings of earth about it so there must be a a bhieftain there at one time. It is situated on the top of a hills about the place. There is a passage under the ground leading on to Raith castle about four miles away. It was used at war times and is said to be built by the Danes at the time of the Danish invasion. There are two or three rooms in it and it is said that gold is buried under them.
