  1. In some places fairs are held in towns but in other places the fairs are held in "A Fair Green" which is outside the town. In olden times fairs were held at cross-roads or in a big field near the town. This is very uncommon nowadays. When a man is selling a cow he gives the buyer some luck money back so that the cow would be lucky. People say that something special should be bought with luck money. The bargains are made by striking hands. Animals are marked with 'raddle'. Long ago a fair was held at Ballinacostello once a month and the people of our district went there.
