  1. Churning
    We have a churn at home. It
    is about one yard in height
    and two feet in width. The
    sides are round. the top
    and the bottom being a foot and a quarter in width. It is nineteen
    years in our house. It
    is a barrel churn therefore
    it is placed upon a stand.
    When we bought it first there
    was a mark on it. Butter is
    made once a week both in
    winter and summer. Strangers
    help if they come into
    the house whilst we
    are churning. It is said
    that if a stranger went out
    without helping he would
    bring the butter with him.
    The butter is taken out with
    a wooden spoon and put on
    to a butter dish then it is
    washed and salted and
