    Thirty police in number and Inspector Carbery
    To crush the Island people down they all came here that day,
    And an auctioneer from Ballina they brought to sell the hay.

    To see the caretakers there that day and the bailiff with his chain.
    And when they all were gone except Maguire upon the hill
    They did their best to convince that man to take the hay against his will.
