  1. Basket and cleeve making formerly was very common in this district though no one makes cleeves now except John Feeney of Larganboy.
    Various kinds of baskets were made. There was the ciscán which had a hand and lid and was made of very fine rods. In this the woman of the house carried her eggs and butter to market. Then there was a clothes basket. This was very large and when the clothes were dried and bleached on the hedge they were gathered into the basket and kept there till they were ironed. Those clothes baskets were very useful too for washing
