in Castlemegarret. Mr Ruttledge was a landlord in Crimblin. Jeffery Burke was a landlord in Irishtown. It is about 100 years since Denis Browne was a landlord. He was called a tyrant-landlord. He would hang a person for a simple reason. One Wednesday he was going to hang a boy, the Blakes heard it they set out from Tuam to kill Dennis, when he saw them coming he ran into the Imperial Hotel. The landlords had servants going from house to house and if they saw a fat goose or turkey or lamb they would bring it to the landlord. The landlords would eat them. If the tenants did not give Dennis Browne the hens or turkeys or geese or lambs he would hang them.
