- (continued from previous page)of the tramps were musicians. There was always great rejoicing when one of these entered a village.
- The only tramp that visits this district is Michael Joyce. In olden times there were certain classes of tramps that would come into the houses and tell stories. The tramps that are going round now do not tell any stories. These tramps usually walked. Some of them rode on donkeys. If a person gave these tramps alms they promised to say certain prayers for that person. The people had great respect for them. They usually gave them lodgings.
Sometimes they stayed a week in each village. They were given a great reception by the people. Some of the tramps ask alms of the people such as eggs, tea and sugar. They were usually fed by the people. They sold small things such as collar steeds, pins and soap.(continues on next page) - Collector
