Austin Prendergast, Culnaoleha. - Long ago the people in the Penal days were not like they are now. The soldiers would stop the Priest if they saw him saying Mass. No Churches were built long ago because the English soldiers did not allow the Priest's to get a Church built. The Priests always said Mass down on a low place on the ground. When the soldiers would pass where the Priest would be saying the Mass they would run him out of the place. A Mass was said in Thomas Morleys field in Tulrahan.
