  1. People long ago never wore shoes until they were about the age of twenty one or twenty two.
    There is a family near Ballyhaunis that never wore a shoe by the name of Flan nor even at the present day. The children nowadays go bare-footed at certain times of the year up to the age of thirteen or fourteen years.
    Children used to get footbaths at night before they went to bed, and a hot coal was put into the water before they throw it out. Shoes are made in the locality now. There are a lot of coblers in the district. An innocent
