  1. Long ago the fairs were held in nearly every parish. The place it was held in this parish was in Heneghan's field. It is now called fair-green. There were fairs held that time that have died out now. The buyers used to go from house to house and if the people had anything to sell they would buy them. When the people sell an animal they have to pay a couple of coppers which is called custome. Every town has a town's committee and whoever takes it for the lowest money has it for three years.
