  1. Hedge schools existed in this district in olden times. The names of the teachers are Patrick Fallon, Michael McGloughlin and John Curley. Some of these teachers were from other districts. Michal McGloughlin adn Brigid Mannion were teaching in the townland of Cultibo.
    Long ago hedge schools were common teachers used go from house to house teaching. The subjects that were taught were Irish reading and writing. Irish was spoking by the teachers and by the pupils.
    Irish was spoken in every subject. The teachers had no blakbords in olden times in? slates the
    used to write.
