  1. Androcles who a Roman slave, ran away from his master one day and hid in the woods. As he wandered among the trees in search of fruit he came across a lion with a thorn in its paw which caused it great pain. Androcles at once took the thorn out of the lions paw. For this kind act the lion showed Androcles great thanks.
    Some time after this Androcles was captured and thrown into a lions den. But just as the lion was about to eat him, it suddenly remembered that this was the man who had taken the thorn out of its paw, and instead of making a meal of him he showed
