    places in the town and stops and stop animals from going through unless the owner is with them.
    When the animals are sold luck-money is given. The money given is, a crown on a horse or cow, a half crown on calves or heifers, a shilling on a sheep and a pig, and twopence on a bonham. When a bargain has been made, the parties concerned in it show their agreement by marking the animal or by striking hands.
    The animal mark is put on its back and consists of raddle. Sometimes the buyers clip a bit of hair off the animals side with a pair of scissors. When an animal is sold the halter is given to the buyer. The great fairs are held in January, February and March. Special
