  1. Long ago there were home cures for every disease. This is a cure for a cough. A turnip was got and peeled. It was steeped in and earthen ware vessel with brown sugar. When it was dissolved it was supposed to be good for a cough. Warts were cured by cutting a raw potato in two and it was then rubbed of the wart. If the rider of a white horse was asked what would cure the whooping cough the answer he gave- no matter what he said- was supposed to be a cure.
