- All hats worn by men were tall-hats. A man left his measure with Michael Heron Ballinrobe. He lived in the corner house where Mr. Bernard Joyce. Co. C., lives now. The hats were manufactured and made in Manulla near Balla Co. Mayo.
- Masons.
There was a mason in every village. - There were two carpenters in Roundfort: Michael Costello and Myles Deasy. They used to make wooden plows and have them on show for sale every Sunday
- Nails were made in Hollymount by a nailor, named Thomas Dwane He lived where Thomas Connor is living now. He made nails from the backs of old scythes. He used to wear a paper cap when working. The shoe-maker in Ballinrobe, Brian Hynes, used to call for the nails used in men's shoes. They were very heavy nails.
