    for rough seats in the Chapel. It was not decorated like it is now. It was repaired not long since ago.
    The children and grown-ups who went to those Teachers sat on those seats. Some of them brought stools with them. They were taught Irish and English Reading and Writing in it. They had not any copies that time. Instead they had slates and slate pensils.
    The Teacher read a piece out of a book. Then the scholars wrote it down on their slates. When they had it written they showed it one by one to the Teacher. If it was wrong he game them a good beating of a stick or rod. Then every evening he gave them a piece of
