  1. There are National schools nowadays in Ireland long ago there were none except Hedge Schools. Teachers were not allowed to teach by the law. But in spite of it all this people taught in secret places. These were known as Hedge Schools.
    This is the discription I heard about a Hedge School that was in the village I live in - Carras
    It was not really a Hedge School it was a chapel. Men named Martin Mellott of Lisatava an Michael Concannon of Roundfort taught in it. They were learned men. At that time the chapel was quite different to what it is now. There were only a
