  1. Far away lived a King whose wife died and left him with eleven sons and one daughter. The daughter's name was Elise and she and her brothers were the happiest children in the world until the King brought home a new Queen. The moment the stranger arrived the children knew she was a very wicked woman. In a weeks time she had poor Elise sent away to live in a peasants cottage. She then made the King believe that his sons were bad boys until he soon cared for them no longer. "Fly out into the wood and seek for yourselves" said the Queen. Then by a magic spell she changed them into eleven white swans doomed to be
