  1. There was once a man who was a beggar. One day he was travelling and he went to a farmer's house. He knocked at the door and a gentleman came out to him and told him that he would give him lodging in a fine castle he had. The gentleman brought him into his own house and gave him his supper and when it was time for him to go to bed the gentleman showed him the room in which he would sleep. He put down a big fire of coal and gave him plenty to eat and drink and a bed also. The gentleman was sure
