    Fairs
    Fairs about here were always held in neighbouring towns except Doonamoona a country place where there are two in the year held in May and Oct.
    The man who is paid for the beast gives luck-penny to the buyers according to the price 2/6 or 3/. out of a good cattle or 6/.. 1/ out of a sheep, 10/. out of a horse or more according to the price. There are special sheep fairs in Ballinrobe in September and October. The biggest fairs held in Claremorris are in April, May, October.
