  1. 'Tis true that his protectors put Boycott to great cost,
    With tramples lawns, trees cut down and much good substance lost.
    The gallant Colonel's twenty men will get their K.C.G.
    And Cockel wounded by his horse will get his due V. C.
    The Queen in gratitude to all for their triumphant task,
    Will make Gladstone Duke of Dunsegno, and foster lord Loughmask.
    Creighton of Fermanagh and Mr. Foster spoke.
    Upon their words they said this business was no joke-
    To gather in an agents crop he brought the Orange Ulster down
    And to defend the diggers he got the army of the Crown.
    From Monaghan and Cavan came those valiant Volunteers,
    Who were protected by revolvers and country people's cheers.
    With spade and scythe, with meat and bread, with knives and forks and spoons
    They were surrounded by bold military by Peelers and Dragoons.
