  1. (continued from previous page)
the lad that she was taking him to Innishmaine Abbey for a cure. In going to the Abbey she would have to cross a stream. The man ordered her to drop him quickly into the water.
In a few days she told the boy of her intention of getting him cured. She wrapped him up in a sheet, put him across her shoulder, and never stopped till she reached the stream. When crossing she opened the sheet and he fell in. Such cursin as he had was never heard before or after. He said if he had her on the other side of the stream he would kill her.
The local belief was that this woman's own mascin was taken away by the fairies, and this fairy left to her instead.

  2. A well around this place is called Muileann an Leipreacháin, and in the old days people used to leave a bag of wheat at the well and it would be ground in the morning. But, some person complained that they were not getting the full amount returned. When the fairies heard this they said they would not grind anymore.
