  1. There once lived in Dunmore a woman and her two sons, Dermot and Donal. At this certain time it happened that they got a notice to pay the rent and they had no money.
    Dermot said to his younger brother "You go to the market to-morrow and sell a cart of corn."
    The next morning Donal was up early and he filled the cart of corn. He was told not to come home if he hadn't the money.
    He brought the corn to the market in Galway and sold it, and he got the money for it.
    There happened to be a half-way - house between Dunmore and Galway where he usually fed and watered his horse.
    On his way home he stopped at this house. He put the horse in the stable and gave her oats and water. He went into the house himself to get a drink, and who
