  1. There was in Inishmocarer forty years ago. His name was Waleter Morrin. There were tow houses in the village at that time, he used to teach school in the houses, he used to have a different house every day for teaching in. he was born in Funshonagh. He was lodging in Egans. He got his meals in the houses he would be teaching in and he also got some money from the people in the village.
    The subjects that were taught in the school were English. Geography, Grammar, Agriculture, Composition, Catechism. Irish was not taught and it was not spoken by the master or the pupils.
    Writing was done in the school. It was done with slate pencils. The teacher had a small black board which he used to carry from house to house. The teacher remained fifteen years in that district
