  1. Long ago there was a hedge school in Ballymagibbon in a barn just where Nalty's house is now. The name of the teacher was Harry Saughnessy he was a country man. He came there twice a week. There was no Irish spoken only English. This teacher taught dancing also. The children paid him sixpence a week that was all the pay he got. He remained only a month there.
There was a hedge school in Gurtaccura in Stephens Cummin's house. It was a Protestant school. There were two Protestant teachers teaching the children. The children got tea there also. The teachers lived in a house that was beside the school.
