It is an unlucky omen to walk under a ladder. It is a sign you will be hanged. If a wife loses her wedding ring, it is an omen that she will lose her husband’s affection. To see a white rat is an omen that you will have a great fortune. An ox or cow breaking into a garden is an omen of good fortune. A kitten coming to a house is a lucky omen. Of a strange dog follows you, it is a sign of good luck. The whining of a favorite dog is a sign of approaching calamity to the family, to which it belongs.
