  1. There is a well in the village of Knockatubber called "The Blessed Well. It is about one mile and a half from this school the old people say that Saint Patrick came to the well and blessed it. It is said that he baptised people at the well, and that is why it is called "The Blessed Well."
    The old people say that water out of a blessed well could not boil, but the water of this well will boil, that is one proof of it most being a blessed well, but just a name for it.
