    God bless this bed that I lie on.
    Here I lie on my night hand side,
    I pray to God to be my guide,
    And if I die before I wake,
    I to God I give my soul to take.
    Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John,
    Bless the bed that I lay on.
    Seven bells ringing, seven angels singing.
    Open the gates of heaven, shut the gates of hell,
    Listen to my evening prayers.
    Now I lie down to sleep,
    I pray to God my soul to keep.
    But, if I die before I wake,
