  1. Denis Browne lived in Claremount in a room in the Convent. The room in which he lived can not be opened.
A priest and an other man went to the room and the priest said mass there. During the mass, a big black dog came out of the room and the priest asked him was he Denis Browne and he said he was.
The room is still there and no body goes near it or goes into it.
He was High-Sheriff of County Mayo. He was also a member of Parliament and voted for the Union.
There is a field near the Convent called "Cnoc na Crouche" in which he had his gallows.
