    I oft feel sad and lone and cold

    I oft feel sad and lone and cold
    How in the Golden West.
    When I recall the times of old,
    And fond hearts laid to rest;
    The gladsome village crowd at 'een.
    The stars a-peeping down.
    And all the meadows robed in green
    Around Claremorris Town.
    And many times I seem to gaze
    On that dear place again,
    As through Time's dim and misty maze
    Appear each street and land;
    The placid lake whose sparkling wave
    Mirrors nights starry crown,
    And winds beside the haunted cave
    Outside Claremorris Town.
    In dreams I hear the thrushes sing,
    Though far, so far away,
