  1. My uncle, Peter Sweeney of Mayfield, Claremorris, knew a Mr. Willam Murphy, Cloondinner, Claremorris, who mowed two Irish acres in one day. This happened thirty five years ago.
Twenty years ago my father Thomas Killeen, James Street, Claremorris, was acquainted with a Mr. P.W. Nally, Balla, who ran a mile in six minutes.
He also knew a Mr. Daly of Galway, who kept up with a horse running.
He also told me of a man called, Mr. William Walshe, Cloghar, Claremorris who used to straighten a cwt. over his head and throw it a considerable distance.
