  1. There was once a small hunch-back living in Claremorris named Paddy Keane. He was very fond of tippling. Archdeacon Kilkenny (late P.P. of Claremorris) was always scolding and advising him to stop drinking. One day he met him on the streets and Paddy was nicely (tipsy). The Dr. said to him "Drunk again Keane" "So am I, Doctor" says Paddy

There was a poor man living in Claremorris once. The people used to call him "Cock O Bandy'. One day he did a job for one of the priests. When he had it finished he went to the Presbytery to get paid. The priest told him to come inside. He did that, and the priest gave him a glass of whisky. When he had it drunk, the priest started telling him that every glass of whisky he drank was putting a nail in his coffin. Then the man said "While your hand is in it Father, drive another in it"
