  1. The year of the famine some of the people were brought to America free and some of them died in the ships going over. The famine affected the district very much. It was very thickly populated before that time. Some old people point out sites of houses that were then occupied and are now in ruins
    The potatoes did not grow when the blight came, just a few small ones grew and the next year they put them in a iddle and they were that small that they went through the hole
