  1. Some of the old people used to secure certain days for many types of work such as ploughing starting a new house on Mondays and Fridays. The people used to think it very unlucky to put out ashes on a Monday or to give away milk on May day. Another foolish idea of theirs was if any person would change any money on New years they would be changing again for the year. It was also their custom that anyone that would have a black halfpenny in their pocket at Easter they would be rich for the year.
