  1. Long ago the people used to making candles out of rushes that were peeled and dipped in grease and left there until they would be still.
    Baskets and skips were made out of rods and is still carried on some places yet, spades, gates, ploughs, and fire-cranes are still made by the blacksmiths.
    Spinning and weaving, dyings, thatching, churn making and wheels of carts all these are done throughout the country.
    Lime is burned in kilns in every village but those who not burn it have to buy it from the neighbours for five shillings or half barel,
