  1. There were a few types of work carried on long ago. such as basket making leather making wood work whip making and forge work.
    Basket making was carried on near Ballyhaunis, leather saddles[?] near Dunmore, wood work in Claremorris forge work in Logroe Claremorris and Crimlin. There were spades[?] gates ploughs and fire cranes made in the forge also. Spinning and weaving was carried on also.
    Burning lime in kills was carried on too. Fishing and fowling throughout the country.
