  1. There are about six forges in the parish. Some of the smith's are Mr. Raftery Mr. Nisland and Mr. Bane. Some of the smiths have been working for many years. Mr. Banes forge is situated near a crossroads The rooves of the forges are made of scraws clay or galven.
    There are about two fire-places in the forge. The implements that the smith uses are pinchers hammer sledge and a rasp.
    The smith shoes horses and donkeys He makes ploughs and harrows also Some of the forge work is done in the open air.
