  1. Thatched houses that were long ago. The people got the thatch from oat that grew and was threshed.
    There was a bed placed in the kitchen and this was called a "hag" or a "settlebed". The reason this bed being in the kitchen was some of the houses had only one room and more of them none.
    There was an odd house where the fire was in the floor and a hole in the roof for the smoke to go out. But in most
