  1. Long ago there was bread made mostly of locally grown oats. There was a mill in Kilvine owned by Mr. Kirrane. There was another in Dunmacreena owned by Mr. Mannion. The people used to go regularly to Kirrane's for it was near the place.
    It was called a killcast, this was like a barn so a hugh fire lit under it all the time, to dry the oats. It would take it about twenty-four hours to dry then the meal was brought home and in one or two days it was sived and put into a big sack that would reach the roof (or the celing which we call it nowadays)
