  1. Once upon a time when fairies were well known to the people certain men were very much afraid.
    A young boy lived in a village called Castle-Car-Bury. He was very fond of card-playing and he used to spend the long nights in a little house playing with other men.
    At twelve o'clock they began talking about fairies and the boy was nervous going home. When he was near a big hill he saw a light under a tree. When he reached the tree what there but a small man making shoes. He ran home and told his Mother the story and she gave him a kick for not bringing him
