and it is made over five years. The maker changed sixteen shillings for it but it was well worth it as it will last a century if it is cared.
About sixty years ago my grand mother made five flax sheets. Her father sowed a plot of flax in Spring and reaped it in Harvest. Then she put it into a boghole to steep it and left it there ten days, After that she took it out and spread it on the ground to dry. When dry she tied it into sheafs and put it up in a loft to season. After about a fortnight she took it down and scutched it. Then she spun it into thread and brought it to the weaver. He woved it into sheets and many of these are to be found up to the present day.
