  1. I.
In olden times the only cure
the people used have for sore
eyes was ivy boiled and then
    the eyes washed with it.
    The cure they had for
    ring-worms was a fasting-spit.
A person would spit on the
    hearth and keep rubbing it
on until it would be of
a dark colour and then rub
    it on the ring-worms. Soap
    cut small mixed with sugar
    was a cure for drawing
    boils. Long ago when peoples
    used get headaches they used
go to a weaver and he
    would tie a woollen thread
    around their heads three times
and he would leave it on
for a few days and then say
    a prayer over it.
